One set of hands, from sketch to handover

Most renovations pass through three or four sets of hands before anyone picks up a tool. Each handover is a chance for the design to get watered down.

At Alpha Plus there is no handover.

Bob Mao designs the project and builds it.

He can tell you on the spot what a detail will cost, what the site will allow, and where the honest trade-offs are — because he'll be the one making the cuts.

Full renovation including design, joinery, tiling, trade coordination and finish. Twenty-five years of interior design means the layout works before the first cabinet arrives.
Extensions, reconfigurations, Queenslander restorations and heritage carpentry. Framing, cladding, windows, doors, joinery and fix-out, done properly.
Concept design, 3D hand-drawn visualisation and construction detailing — available as a standalone service if you already have a builder.

Twenty-five years, two continents

Before Bob picked up a carpenter's tools in Australia, he spent fifteen years as an interior architect in Shanghai, running his own practice on projects including Coca-Cola's Pudong offices, a fifteen-floor Holiday Inn, and retail fitouts for Kodak and KFC — over 70,000 square metres of commercial interior work.

After moving to Australia with his family, He retrained from the ground up: a Certificate III in Carpentry, then a Certificate IV in Building and Construction, and nine years of Australian residential sites — framing, heritage church restoration, insurance repairs, and running crews as a leading hand.
